"Linking
urban research and policy towards sustainability" |
OUTLINE In our specialised world research is generally applied towards a confined set of goals. In contrast, this event, organised by the Network-Association of European Researchers on Urbanisation in the South, seeks to re-contextualise the topic in a wider framework. Our principal objective is the exploration of interrelationships between reflection (science) and action (management and politics) towards urban sustainability. This session will discuss the perspectives and potentials of research networks, and draw essential links to the round table on 'urban research'. N-AERUS is a not-for-profit, open and pluridisciplinary network. ORGANISERS, FACILITATORS, PRESENTERS In the Seminar "Linking urban research and policy towards sustainability" hosted by the Network-Association of European Researchers on Urbanisation in the South renowned urban experts from Europe and beyond presented key-note papers and discussed cutting edge issues concerning contemporary urban research practices and the research-policy nexus. The event confirmed the need of independent research networks to serve as important partners of innovation and critique for large international organisations in developing state-of-the-art urban policies.
